We Ceyana paddlers have been invited by Allison Ireland and Don Mitchell of BWCC to join them for the Canada Day weekend on the Red Deer River.  We're going early this year, hopefully more water than any of us had in '23 & '24.

The Ireland's have the finest hay meadow in Alberta for group camping, it is though a bit of hike up from the river.  The meadow includes some fine facilities, outdoor plumbing, and a hay shed for cooking and gathering under.

The plan is to gather Friday evening, or whenever you show up.  Then do day trips on the nearby reaches of the Red Deer river, these vary from about 17 to 35 kms.  The river is consistently Class I with short stretches of easy Class II water around gravel bars, some gravel bar chutes and the occasional large glacial erratic in the river.  There are few sweepers or logjams on this reach... thank-you Dixon Dam!  And just the occasional island for channel selection decisions.

We do cancel if it is ugly! Thunderstorms, big winds, major storm fronts in the forecast, high water >150 cms, etc.  It is best to register so our leaders can send out timely instructions or cancellation!
