Ceyana Canoe Club
Kristoff has been scouting this trip out. We don't often get out to paddle the NSR above and below Drayton Valley. This run below Blue Rapids includes lots of braided channels, log jams, sweepers, interesting gravel bar chutes making for some easy Class II water. Good River paddling skills are required, especially for maneuvering in a hurray around the logjams and sweepers. You will learn to keep an "eye" downstream at all times.
There is lots of wildlife and "near" wilderness along this reach. The river valley is wide, scenic, and modern civilization's intrusions are limited.
Kristoff is planning to meet early at Wiley West campground, drop vehicles, paddle back and camp for one night, and then the second night camp on the River.
You will be responsible for booking your own campsite at Wiley West.
We do cancel if it is ugly! Thunderstorms, big winds, major storm fronts in the forecast, high water >400 cms, etc. It is best to register so our leader can send out timely instructions or cancellation!
