Our beloved "Banana" which the new canoe replaces, was of course named based on color and shape. Our other boat "Pathfinder" was purchased for the 2008 David Thompson Brigade and Thompson was of course a surveyor, a fur trader and mapmaker... a Pathfinder! Naming voyageur canoes after prominent fur traders is common, or after major rivers in English or a native tongue are also frequently used. How should we name our new big canoe? Suggestions??
