Take this course if you paddle a kayak.


It is the 3rd of a series of safety courses meant to provide the participant with key safety and rescue knowledge and skills to enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and others and to provide them with appropriate rescue skills which can be used to help themselves and others in difficulty.

for the morning session we will be at Star Lake 

We will then proceed to  Const. Chelsey Robinson Park - take a break for lunch and continue practice at the NSR access in the park.

be prepared to get wet in the morning and afternoon, bring wet and dry suits if you have them.


The course is designed for Kayakers

Prerequisites  

1. Be able to swim in normal paddling clothing 

2. Minimum age of 15 years 

3. Ability to paddle and knowledge of basic strokes

4. Comfortable in deep water ( with pfd)

5. Be able to perform a wet exit.

Basic first aid recommended but not required

Some items covered are -

  • Unassisted re-entry
  • Assisted re-entry
  • Towing
