Ceyana Canoe Club
Kristof has offered to take a keen crew of paddlers to take on parts of the Jackson Lake Canoe Circuit, this coming Labor Day Weekend. An early departure from Edmonton will be required, so as to meet mid-morning at the trailhead some 3hrs from Edmonton. It is a 3 km portage in, and you should take your own heavy duty canoe/kayak cart. Book one from the club if you do not have one. It should be a trip full of waterfowl as they should be gathering to begin the migration south... the original snow birds! One option is to paddle in, camp in one spot for two nights, explore Kinnaird and Blackett Lakes the middle day, and then paddle and portage out on Monday. Or the group may choose (and it can be a on-water decision) to paddle and portage further, and use two different campsites!
This trip will require good lake paddling skills, including winds, and good lightweight backcountry camp skills.
