This course is ideal for participants
1. that are planning to take the CKC Level 1 - Kayak Instructors Course or have taken it in the past.
2. that want to perfect their kayak rolling
3. that are new to kayak rolling
This pool based program will introduce you to the progressions for rolling a kayak. Most of our time will be engaged in rolling, but each evening we'll learn at least one solo rescue or rescue of another, or just a boat. You will need to be prepared to be very wet, swim goggles and nose clips are found useful by some students.
You are welcome to bring your own WW or short (<4 m) Rec kayak, assuming it has a good foot brace, thigh/knee hooks & back band, float bags and a water tight spray cover that fits you. Your boat and gear needs to be spotlessly clean! Worst case scenario clean it at the pool... but then you have to clean up the deck too!
This program runs:
Sunday April 23 (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM)
Sunday April 30 (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM)
Sunday May 7th (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM)
Please arrive early to allow enough time to get prepared to be on deck and ready to begin class at the scheduled time
Note: All pool based sessions will be run conditional on the number of participants. A course "go" / "no go" decision will be made 14 days prior to the start date to allow enough time to cancel the pool booking with no penalties. To assist with our planning we are thus requesting that people register early and thank you for your understanding. Cancellations, penalties and refunds post the 14 day limit will be handled on a case by case basis and will depend on course waitlist
