This course is for paddlers with the flat water skills, knowing a variety of strokes, rescues, and ability to control a canoe for direction, turning, and in windy condition.

This course will teach how to paddle on easy rivers like the North Saskatchewan through Edmonton, and the Pembina River near Evansburg.  Moving water skills to be taught will include: eddy turns, ferrying, control in moving water, basic rescues, and reading the river.

Participants will have access to club canoes, paddles, life-jackets, etc.  Participants may be requested to help haul canoes, and to arrange own transportation... car pooling will be encouraged.

Instruction time will include the Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Edmonton with the Tuesday session at the Rundle Park Paddling Centre.  Then depending on skill levels, weather, and river flows the other sessions will be determined.  River paddling maybe on the North Saskatchewan, Pembina or Sturgeon Rivers.

Fees are for instruction and Instructor support.
